The Big Flower Building in the Northern Qi Great Wall is the perfect position to overlook the whole Gubeikou. Looking toward the north Gubeikou Town and the bank of Chao River, the ancient town in the middle is surrounded by the mountains around the Great Wall.
Here is the only road for the emperors to go to Chengde in the Qing Dynasty; has been north important passes for one thousand years. Its precipitous topography forms the ancient town's significant military position, and adds the one thousand years ancient town's charm.
Because of the Great Wall's transverse frame on the Chao River, it links the Curled-up Dragon Mountain and the Wanshou Mountain, forming a unique landscape here.
Gubeikou is located in the dragon vein of China since ancient times. The Wohu Mountain and the Curled-up Dragon Mountain tower aloft; the Chao River and Tang River pass through this ancient town.
This town not only completely and systematacially has preserved of the Ming Great Wall's defense system, but also retained the numerous scenic spots and historical sites as well as natural human landscape. It is the only intact Beijing's historical and cultural town, and at the same time, it is the epitome of China's 2000 years of history.
Gubeikou has peculiar mountains, beautiful waters and many places of interest; it is the necessary place for the ancestor worship, hunting, make an inspection tour of the Qing Dynasty emperors. It had ever set up post road, built the city; Emperor Kang Xi had avoided summer heat here; and Emperor Qianlong had reviewed troops here.
