Shanghai West Railway Station, formerly known as Zhen Ru Station, is located in No.1 Taopu Road, Putuo District, Shanghai. It is on Shanghai-Nanjing Intercity High Speed Rail and 5 km from the east side of Shanghai Station. It integrates Shanghai-Nanjing Intercity High Speed Rail, Shanghai urban rail transport, urban public transport into a modern and large-scale comprehensive transport hub.

History of Shanghai West Railway Station
In 1907, Zhen Ru Railway Station began to work while the Shanghai-Nanjing line put into operation. There are only two stops along the railway line. .
After the founding of the PRC in 1949, with the development of national economy, Zhen Ru Station was expanded. In 1953, Zhen Ru Station has laid nine dedicated lines and three new station line.
Since 1980, Zhen Ru Station, the former freight station, began to shift trains from Shanghai North Station to reduce the load on the old North Station. In January 1989, Zhen Ru was officially renamed as the Shanghai West Railway Station. Since then, Shanghai West Railway Station has been the second busiest station after Shanghai Railway Station in Shanghai.
On July 1, 2006, Shanghai South Railway Station was officially opened, most of the passengers leaving for Shanghai-Hangzhou line direction is diverted to Shanghai South Railway Station and Shanghai West Railway Station increasingly dilapidated,
On January 8, 2009, Shanghai West Railway Station transport hub project commenced. The project was invested 40 billion Yuan.
On July 1, 2010, Shanghai-Nanjing high-speed railway was officially opened, Shanghai West Railway Station reopened passenger business.
