Shanghai Railway Station

Located in No.303 Moling Road, Zhabei District, Shanghai, the new Shanghai Railway Station is originally built in 1987. It honors to be the largest railway station in the city, and also the Shanghai rail transit station. Shanghai is one of main railway hubs in China, trains from Shanghai railway station bound for all parts of the country, including direct express train and motor car to Beijing and Tianjin, as well as Express Bus to Hong Kong.
 
As there are cross-border trains to Kowloon, Hong Kong, Shanghai Railway Station has the frontier inspection and customs, which is different from other domestic train stations. On December 21, 2008, direct sleeper EMU the from Shanghai Railway Station to the Beijing was open.

There are a total of eight ordinary waiting rooms and a soft seat waiting room, there are cross-border trains to Kowloon, Hong Kong, Shanghai Railway Station has the frontier inspection and customs. The ticket hall of Shanghai Railway Station has more than 80 windows, including 20 windows located in joint ticket hall in Beijing East Road, Huangpu District. There are a total of seven platforms and 15 Lines, including two stocks machine lines. The platforms own the canopies and elevated style waiting rooms.

There are two squares in Shanghai Railway Station, North Square and South Square. The North Square is under rebuilt. Rail Transit Line 1 is sited at the southeastern exit of South Square. The passengers can directly go through this channel check out the station or rail transit.

History of Shanghai Railway Station
China's first modern business railway was built in 1876 in Shanghai, named Wusong Railway. Wusong Shanghai Railway Station was sited in Henan Road, being the first railway station in Shanghai. The station was damaged twice during the war between China and Japan.

In August 1950, approved by the Ministry of Railways, Shanghai North Railway Station was officially renamed as Shanghai Railway Station, responsible for passengers and LTL freight. From the 1950s to the 1980s, Shanghai Railway Station was constantly renovated and expanded. In 1980, the Shanghai station had got 11 railway lines.
