Luzhi Water Town (甪直水乡) is located in the Wuzhong District, 18 km east of downtown Suzhou in Jiangsu Province and about 58 kilometers west of Shanghai. Luzhi was famed to be the Venice of the East for its beautiful waterways and ancient bridges, some of the bridges dated back to the Song Dynasty. A walk in the ancient town Luzhi is said to be a walk into history frozen in time, tranquil and serene.
►By High-speed Train (Recommended)
If you prefer to take train to get to Luzhi, it is highly recommended that takeing high-speed train from Shanghai Railway Station or from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station to Suzhou Railway Station first. There are aboutt 190 high-speed trains between Shanghai and Suzhou every day, so it is easy to catch a train. It takes 30 minutes to get to Suzhou from Shanghai via High-speed Train. The first train departs at 05:48 and lact one departs at 22:55. After get out of Suzhou Railway Station, take the direct bus with air-condition to get to Luzhi Water Town. ►By Bus
There are many Long-distance buses departing from Shanghai Bus Station (located at 806, Zhongshan Bei Road) to Luzhi at 7:30 am. Also, on weekends and holidays, there are tourist buses from Shanghai to Luzhi Water Town from Shanghai Yangpu Sports Center, Shanghai Stadium or Hongkou Football Stadium. The buses will return in the afternoon and the journey takes about 2.5 hours.
