Beijing-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway, which can be called Jinghu High-speed Railway, is the longest operating high-speed railway in the world with a total length about 2298 kilometers. This high-speed railway is built to mainly transport passenger instead of goods. This high-speed railway line starts from the capital Beijing in the north, and ends in Guangzhou in the south of the People's Republic of China via Hebei, Henan, Hubei and Hunan provinces. So it is a tie connected two major economic zeons in China: the Bohai Sea Rim and the Zhu River Delta. The designed speed of the railway is 300km/h; but the speed is now reduced to 250-300km/h. Beijing-Guangzhou high-speed rail separates Beijing-Guangzhou railway passenger and freight transportation. Beijing-Guangzhou High-speed Rail was opened on 26 December, 2012. The rail way shortened the time from Beijing to Guangzhou by high-speed rail to about 8 hours.

Beijing-Guangzhou High-speed Railway is consisted of three sections.
Jing-Shi (Beijing - Shijiazhuang) railway section
The total length of Jing-Shi (Beijing - Shijiazhuang) railway section is 278.23 kilometers, of which 229.5 kilometers are in the Hebei province. The estimated total investment reaches 38.49 billion yuan and the designed speed is 300 kilometers. There are 7 stations along the section--- Beijing West, Zhuozhou East, Gaobeidian East, Baoding East, Dingzhou East, Shijiazhuang airport station and New Shijiazhuang Station.
Shi-Wu (Shijiazhuang - Wuhan) railway section
There is a total of 13 stations along Shi-Wu (Shijiazhuang - Wuhan) railway section

Wu-Guang (Wuhan - Guangzhou) railway section
Wu-Guang (Wuhan - Guangzhou) passenger line segment is one of key construction projects in the "China's "Eleventh Five-Year Plan". This railway is of great significance to Guangdong, Hunan, Hubei provinces. In order to balance the interests of the three places, the Ministry of Railways finally elected Changsha to hold the groundbreaking ceremony.
In June 23, 2005, Wuhan-Guangzhou passenger line segment officially started to construct. The length of Wuhan-Guangzhou passenger line segment is 968 km. the investment reached 93 billion yuan and the construction took four and a half years. It was put into operation on December 26, 2009.

In July 2006, National Development and Reform Commission approved the project proposal.
In April 2008, National Development and Reform Commission approved the feasibility study report.
In August 2008, the Ministry of Railways approved the preliminary design.

In October 15, 2008, the Ministry of Railways and Henan, Hebei and Hubei provinces jointly held in Zhengzhou Shi Wu Railway Passenger Dedicated Line started a mobilization meeting, announced the project officially started construction.
In October 25, 2010, all tunnels were linked.
In April 2011, all the lines were paved.
In May 2011, all the rail welding, lock and stress relief work were completed.
In August, 2011, orbit fine-tuning was basically completed.
In May 15, 2012, eletricity transmission is completed.
In May 20, 2012, it officially launched t dynamic test and running test.
In September 28, 2012, the wholly railway was opened.
